Speaker: Dr. Alex Marino
Overview:
Dr. Alex J. Marino is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Civil-Military Relations in the Department of National Security and Strategy at the United States Army War College. His research focuses on the role of technology in U.S.-Africa relations. His book project, NASA and Africa: Space Diplomacy and Scientific Paternalism, is a multi-archival study of outer space, diplomacy, and decolonization from Sputnik to the present. It is an expansion of his dissertation titled The United States and Portuguese Angola: Space, Race, and the Cold War in Africa.” He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in History from the University of Arkansas and a B.A. in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara. At Army War College he teaches courses on Theories of War and Strategy, National Security Policy and Strategy, Comparative Civil-Military Relations and the Africa Regional Studies Program.
