Speaker: Dr. Zenel Garcia
Overview:
Dr. Zenel Garcia, from the US Army War College, will explore the political influence that China is able to attain through its investments in maritime ports around the world. This will include everything from loans to a host nation to construction of a Chinese naval base.

Zenel Garcia is an Associate Professor of National Security Studies in the Department of National Security and Strategy and co-director of the Resident Course China Integrated Course at the US Army War College. He is the author of China’s Western Frontier in Eurasia: The Politics of State and Region-Building and China’s Military Modernization, Japan’s Normalization and the South China Sea Territorial Disputes.
